2621ST MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE OF PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVES PART I (DEPUTIES) – 22 March 2017

Malta’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the European Union Mr Neil Kerr participated in the 2621st meeting of the Permanent Representatives Committee Part I (Deputies), also known as COREPER I.

In addition to approving ‘I’ items, which are mostly issues that were agreed to at the Council’s technical Working Party level (see attached agenda), today’s meeting discussed the following:

– Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on establishing a multi-annual plan for demersal stocks in the North Sea and the fisheries exploiting those stocks and repealing Council Regulation (EC) 676/2007 and Council Regulation (EC) 1342/2008 (First reading) (Legislative deliberation)

= Preparation for a general approach

– Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on common rules in the field of civil aviation and establishing a European Union Aviation Safety Agency, and repealing Regulation (EC) No 216/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council (First reading) (Legislative deliberation)

= Presidency debriefing on the outcome of the trilogue

– Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council setting a framework for energy efficiency labelling and repealing Directive 2010/30/EU (First reading) (Legislative deliberation)

= Presidency debriefing on the outcome of the trilogue

– Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning measures to safeguard the security of gas supply and repealing Regulation (EU) No 994/2010 (First reading) (Legislative deliberation)

= Preparation for the trilogue

– Implementation of the Marrakesh Treaty (First reading) (Legislative deliberation)

a) Proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on certain permitted uses of works and other subject-matter protected by copyright and related rights for the benefit of persons who are blind, visually impaired, or otherwise print disabled, and amending Directive 2001/29/EC on the harmonisation of certain aspects of copyright and related rights in the information society;

a) Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on the cross-border exchange between the Union and third countries of accessible format copies of certain works and other subject-matter protected by copyright and related rights for the benefit of persons who are blind, visually impaired or otherwise print disabled

= Preparation for the trilogue

– Draft Council Decision authorising the opening of negotiations on a UNWTO-Convention on the protection of tourists and the rights and obligations of tourism service providers
