2624TH MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE OF PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVES: PART II

Malta’s Permanent Representative to the European Union, Marlene Bonnici, chaired the 2624th meeting of the Permanent Representatives Committee Part II, also known as COREPER II.

In addition to approving ‘I’ items which are mostly issues that were agreed to at the Council’s technical Working Party level (see attached agenda), today’s meeting discussed the following:

Wednesday 12 April 2017 (10.00)

– Preparation of the Council meeting (General Affairs) on 25 April 2017

a) Modification of the Common Provisions Regulation (Regulation (EU) No 1303/2013)

? State of play – Information from the Presidency

b) Bringing Cohesion Policy closer to our citizens

? Exchange of views

? Adoption of Council conclusions on “Making Cohesion Policy more effective, relevant and visible to our citizens”

c) Implementation of the EU Macro-Regional Strategies

? Adoption of Council conclusions

d) Other items in connection with the Council meeting

– Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data by the Union institutions, bodies, offices and agencies and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Regulation (EC) No 45/2001 and Decision No 1247/2002/EC (First reading)

= Preparation for a general approach

– Proposal for a Decision of the European Parliament and of the Council providing macro-financial assistance to the Republic of Moldova (First reading)

= Mandate for negotiations with the European Parliament

– Relations with the European Parliament after the European Parliament session on 3-6 April 2017 in Strasbourg

– Interinstitutional agreement on Better Law-Making (restricted session)
