Over 26,000 Trained Ethiopian Citizens Secured Jobs Abroad in Month of July Alone


Addis Ababa: Labor and Skills Minister, Muferihat Kamil announced that over 26,000 trained Ethiopians have secured jobs in foreign countries during the month of July alone.

According to her social media post the Ministry has evaluated the implementation of the ministry’s foreign employment plan and outlined the next steps.

Taking the lessons learned in the concluded fiscal year, she said all stakeholders in the sector have actively engaged in planning and identifying their respective roles to benefit many citizens through foreign employment.

Muferihat stated that in addition to the Middle East, the commencement of deploying trained and partially trained human resources to European countries has been among the successful activities registered in the month of July.

The minister also pointed out that the service delivery has been made fair, fast, and flexible, and the overall arrangement has ensured the rights and safety of citizens. As a result, 26,195 citizens were trained and deployed abroad for work in J
uly.

Furthermore, she said, common understanding has been reached to strengthen the ongoing activities and advancing the collaborative work among stakeholders to the highest level, and ensuring that our training institutions are well-organized to provide quality training to take advantage of the opportunities in the global labor market.

Some 345,000 Ethiopian citizens have secured overseas employments in the concluded Ethiopian Fiscal Year.

The recently made Overseas Employments Reform has helped citizens to secure sustainable employment opportunities by protecting their safety, rights and interests.

The bilateral employment agreements made with destination countries also creating good employer-employee relations while protecting the safety and rights of citizens.
