PRESS RELEASE BY THE DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION: General Election 2017: Travel arrangements for Maltese abroad

Travel arrangements are being made for eligible voters residing abroad to enable them to vote in Malta at the forthcoming general election on 3rd June 2017.

For this purpose, Air Malta plc will be making available return air tickets on its regular scheduled services at a charge of Euros 90, inclusive of taxes and other charges, to persons who are eligible to vote in Malta at the forthcoming general election. Reservations may be made at the Air Malta Call Centre on this specific number: (+356) 25 99 1230. The centre will be open between Monday to Saturday, from 08:00am to 09:00pm, and on Sunday from 08:00am to 05:00pm, as from Thursday 4th May 2017 at 08:00am.

Inbound travel to Malta is possible from 24th May 2017 to 3rd June 2017, and return travel is from 3rd June 2017 to 7th June 2017. Those persons who opt for early voting on the 27th May 2017 can travel to Malta from 24th May 2017 till 26th May 2017 to be able to apply at the Electoral Office, Naxxar Counting Complex, by 12:00pm of the 26th May 2017 at the latest. They may then fly back as of the 27th May 2017, but not later than 7th June 2017.

These travel arrangements are available for:

(a) eligible voters, including those married to foreigners, studying, working or undergoing medical treatment abroad; and

(b) dependents of the persons referred to in (a) above.

Persons to whom this directive applies must be eligible voters whose name appears in the Electoral Register published within five days from the publication of the General Election Writ.
