PRESS RELEASE BY THE MINISTRY FOR JUSTICE, CULTURE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT Launch of 80s and 90s music festival in ?al Kirkop – including Modern Talking tribute band

Minister for Justice, Culture and Local Government Owen Bonnici launched the 4th edition of the 80s and 90s Festival which will be organised in Hal Kirkop by the Ghaqda Muzikali San Leonardu � Sezzjoni Zghazagh. The festival is once again being organised in aid of the Inspire Foundation.

During the launch, Minister Bonnici highlighted the importance of such events, which aim to create more accessibility towards culture. “Thanks to local organisations, we keep on encouraging participation and inclusivity within the sector. Our strategy as a government is to ensure that we provide a rich cultural calendar to our communities. In this way, we are further bringing festivals to our localities � something which is becoming more popular each year � and aiding in the advancement of more innovative initiatives such as this one”, continued Minister Bonnici. He concluded by thanking the organisers, especially since proceeds will go towards a noble cause.

For the first time ever, Andre and Micha, who are a tribute band for Modern Talking, will perform in Malta. The band is called Modern Talking Reloaded and these artists have been in the music scene for quite a while and have had various concerts around the world.

The festival will be held on the 21st of June in Triq San Benedittu Hal Kirkop, with the participation of popular Maltese DJs Alex Reflex Grech and Renato Vella, who will be playing songs from the 80s and 90s respectively.

Whilst entry to the festival is free of charge, a donation in aid of Inspire is highly appreciated.
