Malta is currently hosting an EU high-level meeting organised by the Medicines Authority on co-operation on legal issues related to medicines and on co-ordination of the authorisation process for medicinal products as part of the Maltese Presidency.

Addressing delegates from the Co-ordination Group for Mutual Recognition and Decentralised Procedures-Human (CMDh), and from the European Medicines Agencies Co-operation on Legal issues (EMACOLEX), Minister for Social Dialogue, Consumer Affairs and Civil Liberties Dr Helena Dalli spoke about the way the CMDh and EMACOLEX function through dialogue and cooperation.

Minister Dalli remarked how the participation of expert representatives of the Malta Medicines Authority at meetings of both the CMDh and EMACOLEX, is a sign of Malta’s awareness of the need of excellence in the area of regulatory sciences.

The Minister said that another sign of Malta’s interest in the European regulatory sciences is its bid to host the European Medicines Agency when relocating from London.

The Government of Malta is proud that it gives prime priority to its citizens having access to medicines which are of good quality, safe and effective, stated Minister Dalli.

The Minister described such meetings as a prolific example of how the European Medicines Agency has succeeded in bringing together expertise to the benefit of patients throughout the entire community.
