PRESS RELEASE BY THE MINISTRY FOR THE ECONOMY, INVESTMENT AND SMALL BUSINESS: Government to discuss options with Groupage Operators for a Logistics Hub

The Ministry for the Economy, Investment and Small Business announced that following the expiration of the deadline for a Request for Proposal in relation to the establishment of an international Logistics Hub, interest was expressed by 9 international companies, although none of them eventually submitted a proposal.

Through this Request for Proposal issued by the Privatisation Unit, the Government sought to attract the interest of local and international logistics operators to transform the existing site, used by the Groupage Operators at ?al Far, into an international logistics hub aimed at attracting value adding operations. The proposal guaranteed space to the existing Groupage Operators and at the same time sought to convert or enlarge the site into a multi-level facility that would cater for local and international markets.
