PRESS RELEASE BY THE MINISTRY FOR TRANSPORT, INFRASTRUCTURE AND CAPITAL PROJECTS: Minister Ian Borg in Washington DC to meet senior government officials

Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg was in Washington DC to meet senior government officials.

Strengthening the relationship between Malta and the US remains one of the top priorities and these meetings sought to build on that and to explore areas of mutual cooperation.

Minister Borg visited the Department of Homeland Security and held talks with Deputy Assistant for International Affairs Robert Paschall who praised the achievements of the Maltese government and its growing economy and highlighted the recent success in the maritime and aviation industries.

Minister Borg also met Assistant Secretary Joe Balash at the Department of Interior, responsible for Land Management.

He also visited the Department of Transportation where he met Chief Financial Officer for Infrastructure Daniel DeBono and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Aviation John Short.

Other meetings with US Congressmen and Senators were also held.

In New York, Minister Borg also met representatives from different media houses. He also paid a visit to the Maltese Centre where he met with the Maltese living in this community.

Throughout his stay in the United States, Minister was being accompanied by Malta’s Ambassador to the United States Keith Azzopardi, Infrastructure Malta CEO Fredrick Azzopardi, and Chief of Staff Julian Tabone.
