Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Dr Ian Borg and Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and the Property Market Chris Agius visit the Lands Authority

Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Dr Ian Borg visited the Lands Authority together with Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and the Property Market Chris Agius.

During their visit, the Minister and the Parliamentary Secretary met for the first time with all employees within the Authority, as well as the Chairman and the Board of Governors of the Authority.

Agius commended all employees for the good work they are doing for the Authority, so that it can carry out all legislative changes which regulate its functioning. He emphasised the importance of lands as an asset which belongs to the citizens. The Parliamentary Secretary also expressed his appreciation towards the hard work that has been going on throughout this summer, to facilitate processes and reach stipulated deadlines. He stated that although there is always more to be done, the Authority has already made a lot of progress in the period for which it has been active.

Dr Borg spoke about the call for architects for valuations as per Cap. 573, which is to be issued next week. He spoke about the restructuring of the join office for this recruitment drive. The Minister explained how the board is meeting regularly in order to approve files efficiently in line with new legislation (Act XVII of 2017), which came into practice on 25th April. The restructuring progress has begun and is well underway.

He also announced that a number of applications will be available online. Dr Borg explained how case officers will be assigned to these forms in order to communicate with applicants while the application process is ongoing. This is being done to facilitate the application process, as well as to continue promoting transparency in Government departments.

The Minister concluded by giving his thanks to the Chairman, the Board of Governors, the management, and all employees within the Lands Authority for the work they are doing on behalf of the same Authority.
