PRESS RELEASE BY THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT: Ambassador of Austria presents his credentials to the President of Malta

Andreas Stadler presented his credentials to the President of Malta, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca at The Palace, in Valletta.

During the ceremony, the President of Malta and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations.

From 2013 to 2018 Ambassador Stadler represented Austria at the Organization for Security and Cooperation (OSCE) in Vienna. He also teaches cultural diplomacy at the Vienna University and the University of Applied Arts.

From 2007 to 2013 Mr Stadler was the Director of the Austrian Cultural Forum New York, Austria’s cultural diplomacy flagship where he also served as a president of the European Cultural Institutes of New York (EUNIC). The cultural and academic programs that Mr Stadler has curated have received favourable reviews by leading media such as the New York Times, New York Magazine, The Wall Street Journal and Artforum.

During his work as Deputy Ambassador of Austria in Zagreb, Croatia (1995-99), he was publicly recognized for actively promoting post conflict reconciliation policies and human and civil rights. Later he became Director of the Austrian Cultural Forum in Warsaw, Poland (1999-2004), where he proactively engaged in supporting the accession effort with the European Union to public acclaim.

From 2004 to 2007 Mr Stadler served as the first advisor for science and arts to the President of Austria, Dr Heinz Fischer.

Mr Stadler received high decorations from the Mayor of Warsaw, the Polish Minister of Culture and the President of Austria. He studied at the Universities of Vienna, Warsaw and the European University Institute in Florence where he specialized in Political Science, Economy and International Relations. He is fluent in six languages which include English, German, French, Italian, Polish, Croatian-Bosnian-Serb, and has a basic knowledge of Spanish and Russian.
