PRESS RELEASE BY THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT: The Ambassador of the Republic of Cape Verde presents his credentials to the President of Malta

Ambassador Manuel Amante Da Rosa presented his credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca at The Palace, Valletta.

During the ceremony the President of Malta and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations.

Ambassador Amante Da Rosa has a degree from the Brazilian Diplomatic Academy (1980) and holds a post-graduate degree in Defense Security from the Institute of National Defense of Portugal (2002/2005). He has been a career diplomat from the Republic of Cape Verde since 1980. He held key managing responsibilities in several ministerial departments and general directions, and also coordinated several multi-disciplinary task forces.

Ambassador Amante Da Rosa has been in charge of sensitive political issued at the siege level regarding international cooperation and development. He held diplomatic responsibilities in the United Nations and in the ex-URSS. He was also appointed as an international observer during the democratization process of South Africa.

Amante Da Rosa was an ambassador in Angola (1995-1999), covering countries in Southern Africa as non-resident and in Brazil (1999-2002). From 2008 to 2011 he was the Deputy Secretary-General of the Macao Forum in China on behalf of the Portuguese-speaking countries. He is currently the Ambassador in Italy and simultaneously the Permanent Representative of Cape Verde to the UN Agencies based in Rome (FAO, IFAD and WFP).

Throughout his career he made investigation in the sectors of defense and security, geostrategy, South Atlantic, regional integration, ECOWAS and the Sino-African relations.

He is the father of two daughters.
