PRESS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE MINISTRY FOR THE ECONOMY, INVESTMENT AND SMALL BUSINESS: Agreement between HSBC Malta and TradeMalta to promote local-based businesses abroad

Minister for the Economy, Investment and Small Business Chris Cardona presided over the signing of a partner support agreement between HSBC Malta and TradeMalta.

Today’s signing was an important milestone for TradeMalta, the public-private partnership formed between the Government and the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, dedicated to supporting Malta-based businesses to reach international markets with their products and services.

This collaboration with one of Malta’s leading banks is a sign of confidence towards TradeMalta, demonstrating how the private industry is looking favourably at the remit and deliverables of this Agency. This is in line with the original agreement between the Government and the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, whereby TradeMalta needs to raise private funds to sustain its day-to-day operations.

Through this agreement, TradeMalta and HSBC will be working on several joint assignments including country information seminars, training and education programmes, trade missions and other activities. The agreement was signed by HSBC Malta Commercial Banking Head Michel Cordina and TradeMalta chairman David Curmi.

“Any product or service that can be provided locally has the potential to be provided worldwide. That’s why TradeMalta is so important – it is a helping hand, taking the best of Malta into undiscovered markets. Together with HSBC, the reach of these Maltese companies has just got larger and easier,” said Minister Cardona.
