PRESS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE OFFICE OF THE PRIME MINISTER: Mrs Michelle Muscat visiting Dubai as guest of HRC Princess Haya

Mrs Michelle Muscat, Spouse of the Prime Minister, has visited Dubai, as guest of HRH Princess Haya bint Al Hussein, Spouse of Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Princess Haya and Mrs Muscat exchanged ideas with on how Dubai and Malta can further enhance their strong ties, expanding them from the economic sphere to the social one. Princess Haya expressed her appreciation for the impressive development achievements of Malta, especially in the healthcare and education sectors.

Princess Haya also spoke about the UAE’s most significant development milestones under the leadership of President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid. She also spoke about the UAE’s achievements in healthcare development and its growth aspirations for the sector as outlined in Dubai Plan 2021 and UAE Vision 2021.

Michelle Muscat remarked the achievements of the UAE and its determination to be among the top ranked nations of the world in many innovative areas. She added that the unique and different development trajectories of Dubai and Malta present several new opportunities for partnerships.

Princess Haya accompanied Mrs Muscat on a tour of Dubai Healthcare City (DHC) and Zayed University (ZU). They were received at Dubai Healthcare City by Deputy Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Dubai Healthcare City Authority HE Dr. Raja Easa Saleh Al Gurg. During their meeting at DHC, they discussed how Dubai’s aspirations in the healthcare sector and Malta’s advances in the development of healthcare systems create opportunities for synergies between the healthcare sectors of both countries.

Princess Haya and Mrs Muscat were received at Zayed University by the Vice President of the University HE Dr. Reyadh Al Mehaideb. Their tour of the campus included the University’s Multimedia Lab, Art Gallery and the Khalaf Al Habtoor Assistive Technology Resource Centre. During their University visit, Princess Haya and Mrs Muscat had the opportunity to engage in an open discussion with Zayed University students in which they shared their vision for education and its role in the progress of a nation. They also shared ideas on how Dubai and Malta can benefit from growth opportunities in each other’s rapidly growing education sectors.

During her two-day visit in Dubai, Mrs Muscat met with the Minister of State for Happiness and Tolerance HE Ohood Al Roumi. At their meeting, the minister, whose innovative portfolio has attracted worldwide attention, spoke about her assignments and how countries should seek to drive policies creating social well-being.

During her visit Mrs Muscat had meetings with the Chamber of Women in Business, with talks focusing on the advancement and empowerment of women in the business industry.

Mrs Muscat extended her sincere wishes to the people and leadership of the United Arab Emirates for continued growth, development and prosperity in the years ahead.
