PRESS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE OFFICE OF THE SPEAKER: Speaker receives Argentinian Ambassador

Early this afternoon Speaker of the House of Representatives, An?lu Farrugia, has received a courtesy visit from Mr Tomas Ferrari, Ambassador of the Argentine Republic, who is based in Rome.

The two dignitaries recalled the long standing relations that exist between Malta and Argentina, which diplomatic relations were established on 29th May 1975.

They referred to the Maltese Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2017, with Speaker Farrugia elaborating on the EU priorities of the said Presidency.

The EU-CELAC Summit, which will be taking place in El Salvador in 2017, as well as the EU-MERCOSUR negotiations also featured in the discussion.

Ambasador Ferrari was accompanied by Ms Jimena Rivero, First Secretary at the Embassy of the Argentine Republic in Rome.
