PRESS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE OFFICE OF THE SPEAKER: The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Parliament of Malta An?lu Farrugia meets the France-Malta Parliamentary Friendship Group

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Parliament of Malta An?lu Farrugia has received a courtesy visit this morning by three members of the France-Malta Parliamentary Friendship Group, formed within the National Assembly of the French Republic.

The Speaker, An?lu Farrugia spoke about the cordial relations that exist between Malta and France and said that the Parliamentary Friendship Group between the two countries date back to the 1990s. He referred to the Maltese Diaspora in France, who had received the necessary assistance from France when they had to leave the North African countries, where they lived following the uprising against the French. He even answered questions put forward by the Group including those about our electoral system and the functioning of our Parliament.

The France-Malta Parliamentary Friendship Group was led by Mr. Patrice PRAT, MP for Garde, who is the President of the said Friendship Group. It included Mr. Georges FENECH, MP for RhAne, Ms Catherine QUERE, MP for Charente-Maritime, and Mr. Roland BEAUME, Secretary of the Delegation.
