PRESS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE OFFICE OF THE SPEAKER:Speaker of the House of Representatives receives a courtesy visit by the Management Committee of the German Branch of the European Association of Journalists

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Anglu Farrugia this morning received a courtesy visit by a group of German journalists who form part of the Management Committee of the German Branch of the European Association of Journalists.

The Speaker made reference to parliamentary procedures of the House of Representatives. He referred to the upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which Malta will take over with effect from 1st January 2017 and highlighted the priorities to be discussed during the said Presidency. The Speaker mentioned the meetings that the Parliament of Malta will be hosting within the Parliamentary Dimension of Malta’s Presidency. He also said that the Maltese Parliament will be holding the very first parliamentary meeting between parliamentarians from Israel and Palestine so as to discuss various issues which concern both sides, such as the lack of drinking water and the problem related to text books that include hate language.
