Residents urged to register for Maisha Namba

The Keiyo North Deputy County Commissioner has called on residents to register for the Maisha card which is being rolled out by the government and is set to replace the national identity card.

Speaking during a public sensitization meeting at Kiptabus village, the DCC said the new card has a chip which is able to hold more information.

Maiyo added that the new card is digital and can be used to travel within the East African Region and therefore the importance of residents to apply for the new card.

Noting that the world was going digital, the DCC called on residents not to be left behind urging them to move with the times.

The DCC also sensitized the residents on the need to acquire birth and death certificates saying majority either apply for them late or do not go for them at all.

He regretted that most residents only go for birth certificates when they are required to register for national examinations saying registration of births and deaths was key for planning in the country.

The DCC urged resid
ents to embrace the various plans the government is rolling out saying they would benefit from them saying no government can harm its people.
