THE MINISTRY FOR ENERGY, ENTERPRISE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT Electricity supply reinforcement project in Ba?rija and surroundings

An infrastructural project aimed at the reinforcement of electricity supply in Bahrija and its surroundings has been launched. These works are being carried out following discussions between the Ministry for Energy, Enterprise and Sustainable Development, Enemalta and the Rabat Local Council.

Through these works, residents will benefit from a new electricity supply system that addresses inconveniences these residents have been facing for years.

Bahrija’s population has continued to grow steadily but, up until 2013, the infrastructure was significantly behind. In fact, until a few years ago, there was no drainage system in the area. Since then, the government has invested millions to give families access to a common drainage system.

The government is now taking another important step to improve the residents’ quality of life, with an investment which will modernise the electricity’s infrastructural system. These residents have been faced with interruptions in electricity supply and low voltage.

In discussions between Minister Miriam Dalli, Enemalta representatives and Rabat Mayor Sandro Craus, a decision was taken to carry out the substantial investment in this area.

The works include the laying of cables and the modernisation of substations.

“Enemalta is committed to continue reinforcing the distribution system in our country. This is one of a series of projects Enemalta is undertaking as part of its five-year-plan,” stated Minister Dalli.

Mr Craus thanked the government for this investment and emphasised the importance of this project for residents.
