THE OFFICE OF THE SPEAKER Speaker Farrugia receives courtesy call from the new Armenian ambassador

Speaker of the House of Representatives Anglu Farrugia received a courtesy visit from Ms Tsovinar Hambardzumyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia.

Speaker Farrugia noted the excellent and cordial relations between Malta and the Republic of Armenia, which were established diplomatically in June 1993. He said that Malta welcomed the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between the EU and Armenia which entered into force in March last year. He referred to relations between the two parliaments and said he was looking forward to the establishment of a parliamentary friendship group.

Speaker Farrugia discussed Armenian citizens living and working in Malta, with the Armenian Ambassador mentioning Armenian investments in Malta as well as Maltese investments in Armenia.

The relations between the EU and Armenia, the roles of the OSCE and the Council of Europe, and the invasion of Ukraine by Russia also featured in the talks between the two dignitaries.

Ms Tsovinar Hambardzumyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia, was accompanied by Ms Naira Ghazaryan, PA to the Ambassador.
