African Ambassadors Briefed on Ethiopia’s Preparations to Host African Inaugural Urban Forum


Addis Ababa: Ethiopia Deputy Head of Mission Demeke Atnafu Ambulo has briefed African Ambassadors residing in Nairobi about Ethiopia’s preparations to host the upcoming first historic African Inaugural Urban Forum.

According to the Ethiopian Embassy in Kenya, the deputy mission head highlighted Ethiopia’s exemplary experience in sustainable urban development, emphasizing policies such as human-oriented infrastructure development, urban greening projects, and slum transformation.

Logistical preparations to host the forum that will be held on September 4 to 6, 2024 are in the final stages, he noted, adding that the host nation takes immense pride in its longstanding tradition of hospitality and collaboration in organizing far-reaching, high-value events.

Demeke underscored the necessity of collective commitment and dedication to ensure the success of the Pan-African event.

The upcoming African Inaugural Urban Forum is expected to bring together ministers, mayors, head of states, African cities’ representati
ves, stakeholders and global partners.

So far over 2,500 participants have registered to participate in the forum, it was learned.

For his part, UN-HABITAT Regional Office for Africa Director Oumar Sylla provided a detailed briefing on the preparations of the forum and its connection to the 12th World Urban Forum.
