African Journalists Admire Addis Ababa’s Infrastructure Growth


Addis ababa: Journalists from various African countries who toured Ethiopia have been amazed by the tremendous infrastructure growth in Addis Ababa, terming the city a model for Africa. Jackson Okata, a Kenyan journalist visiting Addis Ababa for the first time, expressed his admiration for the city’s well-planned roads, pedestrian paths, and advanced freeways, highlighting the smart urban planning that other African cities should emulate.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, Okata noted the ease of traffic in Addis Ababa compared to his hometown, praising the respect for road rules and the absence of over-speeding. He encouraged other African capitals to adopt Addis Ababa’s urban planning model, sharing his desire to return and explore more, including the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.

Catherine Tembo, a journalist from Malawi, shared her amazement at Addis Ababa’s development compared to other African capitals. She emphasized the city’s impressive roads and well-equipped state institutions, including muse
ums. John Riaga, another Kenyan journalist, admired the city’s night scenery and efficient traffic management, while also appreciating the warmth and friendliness of the Ethiopian people.

Agatha Ngotho, a Kenyan journalist, noted significant improvements since her last visit three years ago, particularly in climate-conscious road construction and traffic management. She praised the city’s modern infrastructure and ecological considerations. Rwandan journalist Michael Kuzizam urged Africans to learn from Addis Ababa’s development, advocating for a collective effort to progress across the continent.

The journalists collectively agreed that Addis Ababa’s infrastructure, urban planning, ecological focus, and hospitality make it a model for African cities striving for sustainable development and growth.
