Burkina: creation of a body to coordinate the activities of the AES, placed under the authority of the Head of State


Ouagadougou: The Burkinabè government proceeded this Wednesday in Ouagadougou to create the National Commission of the Confederation ‘Alliance of Sahel States’, a national body for coordinating and monitoring the activities of the AES, placed under the direct authority of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Head of State.

‘The National Commission of the Confederation ‘Alliance of Sahel States’ is the national body for coordinating and monitoring activities relating to the Confederation of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES). It is the technical structure responsible for assisting the President of Faso in the process of structuring and functioning of the AES Confederation,’ according to the report of the council of ministers this Wednesday.

The CN-AES is also responsible, among other things, for monitoring the implementation of the decisions of the College of Heads of State, of the confederal sessions of the Councils of Ministers, of preparing the meetings of the College of Heads of State, the confederal sessions of the
Councils of ministers and meetings of senior officials preparatory to the bodies of the AES Confederation

It is also responsible for conducting prospective reflections on the evolution of the AES Confederation, proposing measures and actions to be undertaken with a view to consolidating the AES Confederation, and promoting public awareness of the objectives of the AES Confederation. The National Commission of the Confederation ‘Alliance of Sahel States’ is placed under the authority of the President of Faso.

On July 6, 2024, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger signed the AES treaty after expressing their determination to pool their forces in defense and security and aware of the need to coordinate their diplomatic political actions in a spirit of brotherhood and friendship among others.
