DPM and FM Describes Green Legacy as Strong Foundation for Regional Cooperation

While planting seedlings along with the visiting Djibouti Public Diplomacy delegation this afternoon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of foreign Affairs Demeke Mekonnen said that the Green Legacy Initiative serves as “strong foundation for shared aspiration for regional cooperation.”

He emphasized that the Green Legacy symbolizes the endeavor to compact climate change, preserve natural resources and create a better and greener development for the people.

According to him, the initiative will serve as a strong foundation for shared aspiration for regional cooperation.

“I am delighted that Djibouti has taken this noble initiative. (Our) joint planting of seedlings in Djibouti last year, showcases our joint dedication to fostering a greener landscape and building stronger ties between our nations.”

It is a reminder that when you come together and unite for common purpose, we can achieve greater goals, Demeke noted, adding that “we need to recommit ourselves, build sustainable region and continent that nurtures our people and the planet.”

The deputy premier further stated that today’s event not only provides opportunity to celebrate this milestone but also to reflect on the immense potential of our collective action.

“I am confident that your journey from Djibouti to Addis Ababa has brought you many memorable experiences through this trip. This is a momentous occasion at a historic landmark where we have reaffirmed our strong commitment to strengthen the bond between our two countries and people,” Demeke said.
