Ethiopia, AfDB Agree to Further Strengthen Collaboration


Finance Minister Ahmed Shide, held a consultative meeting with Jonathan Nzayikorera, Executive Director of the African Development Bank (AfDB) in Addis Ababa today.

During the discussion, the minister commended the Bank’s contributions to the socio-economic development of the country.

He also recognized the extensive portfolio operations currently underway as well as technical assistance provided to support Ethiopia’s reforms and capacity-building efforts.

Moreover, the minister applauded the Bank for its role in coordinating regional projects and supporting the Horn of Africa Initiative (HoAI).

Finally, the minister requested stronger collaboration and continuous support of the Bank in mobilizing additional resources and accessing different windows, and for the swift approval of upcoming projects.

Executive Director of the African Development Bank, Jonathan Nzayikorera on his part highlighted the support the Bank is providing to Ethiopia for different projects across different sectors such as Infrastruc
ture, Agriculture, Water, and Agro-Industrial value chains.

He outlined the Bank’s plans to support both the public and private sectors.

Both sides agreed to remain in constant contact to ensure stronger collaboration and timely dialogue on all issues to foster sustainable development in Ethiopia and the region at large, according to Finance Ministry.

The AfDB’s mission is to fight poverty and improve living conditions on the continent through promoting the investment of public and private capital in projects and programs that are believed to contribute to the economic and social development of Africa.
