Beijing: An exchange event on business, culture, and the arts between China and Ethiopia commenced on Thursday in Beijing, marking the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. Ethiopian Public Diplomacy cultural Troupe is in China from July 21 to 27, 2025, under the theme “Kin Ethiopia: Ethiopia Rising,” showcasing Ethiopia’s cultural heritage through traditional and modern artistic expressions.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the event is being hosted at the Embassy of Ethiopia in China and features a variety of activities, including traditional Ethiopian music and dance performances, themed exhibitions, coffee tastings, Chinese cultural displays, and business exchanges. The opening ceremony featured a 75-member Ethiopian cultural delegation that presented Ethiopia’s stories and ancient traditions through contemporary expression.
Ethiopian Minister of Culture and Sports, Shewit Shanka, stated that by showcasing Ethiopia’s heritage, the country aims to foster economic partnerships and cultural collaboration. Ethiopian ambassador to China, Tefera Derbew Yimam, emphasized Ethiopia’s goal to strengthen people-to-people relations with China and promote shared values and cultural diversity through this event. “There is no better way for the two sides to honor the anniversary than through cultural celebration-a bridge that connects hearts beyond borders,” the ambassador remarked.
The opening ceremony was attended by senior officials, business leaders, and diplomats from both countries. The event is scheduled to run through July 26.
