Addis ababa: An Ethiopian cultural troupe comprising 70 members is set to embark on the first leg of its world tour, with China as its initial destination on July 20, 2025. The troupe’s mission is to present Ethiopia’s cultural heritage to an international audience.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the troupe’s journey aims to showcase Ethiopia’s cultural wealth across various countries. Tesfahun Gobezay, State Minister of the Government Communication Service, emphasized that the trip’s purpose is to share Ethiopia’s cultural treasures with the world, marking a new chapter in promoting the nation’s heritage globally. He highlighted the role of art in enhancing a country’s values, expressing hope that the trip would strengthen cultural diplomacy and foster people-to-people relationships.
Tesfahun also noted that this initiative holds significant importance for boosting tourism, attracting investment, and enhancing Ethiopia’s national image. Culture and Sports State Minister Nebiyou Baye acknowledged that Ethiopia’s cultural assets have not been adequately showcased internationally. He expressed confidence that the troupe’s tour would greatly contribute to promoting Ethiopian arts and culture worldwide through performances, handicrafts exhibitions, and cultural exchanges.
Kamuzu Kassa, Shakura Production Manager, revealed that extensive preparations, including training for the delegation, have been underway for the past four months. The performances will feature traditional attire, ethnic cuisines, and circus acts, offering a comprehensive glimpse into Ethiopia’s diverse cultural landscape.
