Extensive Work Underway to Promote Tourism Resources, Create Conducive Environment for Visitors

Addis ababa: The Ministry of Tourism announced that the promotion of Ethiopia’s vast tourism resources and the creation of favorable conditions for visitors have been carried out on a large scale. Beyond its economic benefits, domestic tourism, which is primarily the movement of citizens away from their home for recreation, meetings, field work, pilgrimage, and medical treatment, strengthens solidarity among people.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, Ministry Promotion Sector Lead Executive Officer, Teshome Teklu, stated that the infrastructure development projects being carried out by the government have contributed to the tourism sector. He highlighted that these projects have created significant opportunities for visitors to explore Ethiopia’s tourist attractions. The Executive Director also noted that initiatives such as “Dine for Generation” and “Dine for Nation” have been instrumental in extending tourists’ stay in the country.

He further mentioned that the ministry is actively working to create a supportive environment for service providers to ensure their active participation in domestic tourism. Tour operators, on their part, are making efforts to promote Ethiopia’s tourism resources globally. They emphasized that Ethiopia’s cultural and historical wealth offers substantial opportunities for those involved in the sector.

Vice President of Talak Ethiopian Tour Operators Association, Enku Mulugeta, pointed out that the development works have led to an increase in visitors, while the resurgence of domestic tourism has opened up avenues for service providers. Pleasure Ethiopia Tours owner, Nahom Admasu, shared that the establishment of new destinations across the country has resulted in a boost in his income.
