The Government of Ethiopia will promptly investigate an alleged mass execution of Ethiopian nationals at the Saudi-Yemeni border in tandem with the Saudi Authorities, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Our attention has been brought to a recent report by the Human Rights Watch about an alleged mass execution of Ethiopian nationals at the Saudi-Yemeni border, who were attempting to cross over into Saudi Arabia,” statement noted.
The Government of Ethiopia will promptly investigate the incident in tandem with the Saudi Authorities.
At this critical juncture, it is highly advised to exercise utmost restraint from making unnecessary speculations until investigation is complete, the statement added.
The two countries, notwithstanding the unfortunate tragedy, enjoy excellent longstanding relations, it indicated.
