KRC holds first annual regional career fair

Khomas Governor Laura McLeod-Katjirua has urged learners to choose the career paths they want to pursue and cultivate the necessary skills to excel in the job market.

Addressing the launch of the first Khomas Regional Council Annual Regional Career Fair on Tuesday, McLeod-Katjirua said a holistic approach to education nurtures well-rounded learners who are not only techni

cally knowledgeable and competent in their core subject, areas but are also global citizens with open minds.

“With the fast-changing jobs landscape and the hypercompetitive working environment, events such as this contribute to yielding relevant strategic insights for all stakeholders-governments, employers, learners, and parents alike – and enable learners to bring more value to the interview table and to the employer and thrive in their jobs,” she said.

Also at the launch, Khomas Regional Council Director Paulus Nghikembua advised learners to be disciplined and to refrain from indulging in activities such as smoking, drinking, and using drugs.

“At an early age, you need to identify your passion. How you conduct yourselves now will determine what and who you will be in the future,” he said while encouraging the learners to conduct research to develop skills and, as a result, make money out of it.

Also in attendance was Member of Parliament Emma Muteka, who stated that parents should be involved with career fairs so that they can understand the career options that their children want to pursue.

The three-day career fair is being held under the theme ‘Inspired for Tomorrow.’
