Legislator pledges Sh3million to uplift Kabarnet High School

Speaking at the school on Friday during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Thanksgiving, the MP, who is also an alumni of the school, said his donation would aid in modernising the school’s old dormitory and classrooms.

Kandie said the school needed expansion due to its rising population and called on the students to work hard and support their parents and teachers so as to achieve their targets.

The MP further promised to mobilise the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) to construct a footbridge that would connect the school to its upper field, which is separated by the Kabarnet-Marigat highway, and force the students to cross the highway to use the field, thereby exposing them to danger.

The Regional Director of Education, Mr. Milton Nzioka, who was the chief guest, urged the parents to collaborate extensively with the school to ensure that the school progresses from one step to another.

‘The school needs Sh27 million to finish the newly constructed classrooms, and the money is in your pockets.
We can finish the project in the next one month so long as you provide financial support,’ Nzioka urged the parents.

Nzioka took part in rewarding invited students who did well in last year’s examination with gifts, including briefcases and money, in order to serve as an encouragement to the ongoing students.

On the banning of the school on recently concluded Secondary Regional Games held in Bomet, Baringo County Director of Education Masibo Kituyi cited that there was a problem on their player list after the school fielded a student whose details were not on the county list.

Chairman of the School’s Board Management, Lawrence Kibet, said that the school is eyeing a mean score of 9.5 following their drop in last year’s examination mean score to 6.9.
