Makueni Woman Rep Issues NGAAF Cheques To Women Groups

Makueni Woman Representative Rose Museo has disbursed cheques worth Sh15.2 million from the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) to 141 women groups in the county to boost their livelihoods. She said the funds will boost access to loans by women to finance their own enterprises in order to become economically empowered and sustain their families. The groups that will benefit from the funds include 34 groups from Makueni constituency, 28 in Mbooni, 24 from Kilome and 23 groups in Kibwezi East will be empowered by the funds. Also 20 groups from Kaiti and 12 groups from Kibwezi West Constituencies will get the NGAAF empowerment fund. Museo handed over the cheques to the groups during her tour of Mutiluni area in Kilome constituency on Friday. She urged the beneficiaries to utilise the funds in doing business in order to uplift their lives. ‘This money you are getting today is from the National government, if you are given a loan do not start boasting, but utilise it well in your groups to benefit you in future,’ noted Museo while speaking in Mutiluni area in Kilome constituency on Friday. She added that the groups that will manage their funds well will benefit from additional funding up to a million shillings in the next cycle of disbursements. ‘Next time, we want to fund groups with more than half a million or a million shillings to boost your business activities,’ added Museo Museo urged the residents to take advantage of the rains to plant crops and trees to help fight climate change and to benefit from the fruits and other tree incomes. She cautioned the residents to avoid mudslides and flood-prone areas and to take care of their children during this long holiday period from being taken away by floods. ‘Do not ignore these rains, kindly avoid landslide prone areas in order to avoid loss of lives and desist from sending your children to fetch water at the nearby seasonal rivers that may flood anytime during this rainy period,’ said Museo. ‘If you plant trees in your homes during this rainy season, the trees will control the rains at your home by reducing soil erosions and mudslides and you will help in saving our world from the climate change effects,’ added Museo.
