Man dies after being attacked in Windhoek

A 31-year-old man died after allegedly being attacked by five men armed with a pistol and panga in Windhoek on Sunday.

The Namibian Police Force in its weekend crime report said the incident occurred around 16h40 at a house in Katutura.

It is alleged that the five men went to the house looking for the owner of a Polo Vivo parked on the premises and started searching the rental rooms where the vehicle was parked.

They found the owner of the car, Hawala Hamupanda, in one of the rooms. An argument erupted and the men allegedly attacked Hamupanda, shooting and stabbing him, before fleeing the scene in a blue Citroën.

The deceased’s next of kin have been notified.

His attackers have not yet been identified and police investigations are ongoing.
