Mundika Boys To Face St. Patrick’s Busibwabo In Busia Sub-County Semi-Finals

Former Busia County Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) champions St. Mary’s Mundika Boys will commence the journey of seeking this year’s Busia County qualification slot when they meet St. Patrick’s Busibwabo in an anticipated tough semifinal match at Mundika grounds on June 24th.

Mundika, who finished top in Township Zone after 4-3 penalty shootouts versus county rivals St. Mathias Boys, will be looking for home crowd cheering to steer them past Busibwabo, who trounced St. Paul’s Mabunge to win the Matayos Zone.

Mundika had thrashed city rival Burumba Secondary 3-0 to reach the zonal finals. Mundika have had a very successful run, being unbeaten so far with four straight wins, including a 3-1 win against Mayense Secondary School.

In another semi-final, border boys St. Mathias and St. Paul’s Mabunge will square it out to determine the finalists.

In girls’ soccer, reigning champions St. Paul’s Mabunge will battle town girls Our Lady of Mercy, with Budokomi and Lwanya Girls meeting in the other semifinal.

In boys volleyball, Township Zone champions Mundika Boys will play Matayos Zone runners-up Busibwabo as St. Mathias Boys square it off with St. Paul Mabunge.

In girls’ volleyball, Lwanya from Matayos will play Budokomi from Township as Township winners, and Our Lady of Mercy will face St. James Nasewa.

Netball will pit Matayos Zone queens Busibwabo against Township Zone runners up; Our Lady of Mercy, while Township queens, Budokomi will be playing St. James Nasewa.

Some notable schools that will be missing out after being eliminated at their respective zones include St. Mary’s Burumba, St. Kizito Murende, St. Augustine Nasira, St. Paul’s Busende, and St. John’s Mabale Secondary.
