NGAAF Offers Sh. 7.6 Million For Mandera Bursary

At least 5,000 bright yet needy students in Mandera County have received a total of Sh 7.6 Million in bursary funds from the National Government Affirmative Action Funds (NGAAF).

The funds, disbursed by the office of Mandera County Woman Representative, Ummul Kheir Kassim, will support students in colleges and technical institutions throughout the county.

During the fund disbursement ceremony, Kassim urged the beneficiaries to prioritize their studies and avoid engaging in activities that may hinder their academic progress.

The Woman Representative emphasized that her office, through NGAAF, is committed to supporting students in Mandera, especially those pursuing teaching careers, as there is a shortage of educators in the region.

‘I am urging our young students to pursue teaching as our region is short-staffed,’ she added.

Additionally, Mandera County Commissioner, Amos Mariba, encouraged the students to consider enrolling in technical universities in large numbers.

He commended the Woman Representative for transparently distributing the bursary cheques to the beneficiaries, fostering discipline, and motivating the students to work diligently for a promising future.
