NIS Boss Leads Garissa Residents In Trees Planting Drive

The Director of the National Intelligence Service, NIS, Noordin Haji, led Ijara residents in planting 1000 trees at various places within the Ijara constituency on Monday, following the government’s declaration of Monday as being a tree planting day. Haji, who was accompanied by an environmental conservationist, Ambassador Ms. Medina Amin, asked residents to embrace tree planting in line with mitigating the adverse effects of climate change being experienced in the area. The leaders planted trees at Yusuf Haji Girls Secondary School, Alfurqan Orphanage Centre, and County Mix Secondary School. Ijara MP Abdi Ali Sheikh led Ijara residents in the tree planting at Ijara NG CDF offices in Masalani Town, Ijara sub-county of Garissa County. He said they expect to plant 50,000 trees in the area before the end of this week and urged residents to make deliberate efforts to plant trees to curb floods and droughts that often affect the area.
