Minister of Oil and Minerals Ahmed Dares met on Sunday with United Nations Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Yemen William Grisley. In the meeting, Dares and Grisley discussed the repercussions of the aggression’s detention of oil derivatives ships and the prevention of their entry into Yemen. They touched on the human suffering that Yemen is going through due to the arbitrary practices of the aggression such as maritime piracy on oil derivatives ships. The meeting stressed the importance of the United Nations in playing its active role in urgent intervention to put pressure on the countries of the aggression to allow the entry of oil derivatives ships and prevent their detention, especially the ships having the UN permits. Minister of Oil stressed the need for the United Nations and international organizations to bear full responsibility for the human suffering of the Yemeni people resulting from preventing the entry of oil derivatives ships to the port of Hodeida. Dares pointed to the importance of finding the necessary solutions to ensure the entry and arrival of oil derivatives without being exposed to fuel ships and piracy by the aggression. He pointed out the continued detention of fuel ships causes burdens and fines for delaying those ships borne by the Yemeni people. For his part, the United Nations Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs stressed the keenness to follow up and communicate continuously in order to open Sana’a International Airport and release oil derivatives ships and work to neutralize them in a way that contributes to alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people. Grisley pointed out the United Nations realizes the extent of Yemenis’ need for domestic gas, through its efforts to support the provision of oil derivatives, including domestic gas, and to make more efforts in this aspect.
