The seedlings have been planted from 6:00 am to 9:00 am across the country, according to the Government Communication Service.
In her press briefing, Government Communication Service State Minister Selamawit Kasa said citizens are actively participating in this historic tree seedlings program in all parts of the country.
Some 34 million citizens are expected to participate in today’s historic tree planting campaign, it was learned.
The campaign is underway across Ethiopia as part of the national Green Legacy Initiative campaign which envisages planting 25 billion seedlings over the coming four years.
More than 9,000 stations are at present sending information to the center, which is established to gather data of the overall activities of the campaign.
In its previous record, Ethiopia had planted over 350 million trees in a single day in 2019.
