PM Abiy Leads Signing of 2.5 Billion USD Fertilizer Complex Shareholder Investment Agreement


Addis ababa: In the Presence of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopian Investment Holdings and Dangote Industries Limited have signed a 2.5 billion USD Fertilizer Complex Shareholder Investment Agreement.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the Prime Minister expressed his congratulations to all Ethiopians on social media, celebrating the agreement as a significant milestone in Ethiopia’s pursuit of food security and agricultural transformation. The Fertilizer Complex Shareholder Investment Agreement marks a notable collaboration between Ethiopian Investment Holdings and Dangote Industries Limited.

The Premier highlighted that with the 2.5 billion USD investment, the project aims to produce up to 3 million metric tons of fertilizer annually. This output will position Ethiopia among the world’s largest fertilizer producers, enhancing its agricultural capabilities.

Furthermore, the project is expected to create local jobs and ensure a reliable fertilizer supply for Ethiopian farmers, who have historically face
d numerous challenges in this sector. PM Abiy emphasized that this endeavor represents a crucial step toward achieving food sovereignty for the nation.

PM Abiy also noted that the project strengthens Ethiopia’s competitiveness across Africa and showcases the country’s commitment to strategic investments that benefit its citizens and future. Following the signing, the Prime Minister announced plans to officially launch the project on-site, underscoring the government’s dedication to completing this initiative for the betterment of Ethiopian farmers, the economy, and the country’s future.
