PM Abiy Reviews Progress of Addis Ababa Riverside Project with Prosperity Party


Addis ababa: Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, alongside members of the Prosperity Party Central Council, reviewed the advancement of the Addis Ababa Riverside Project this afternoon, following the council’s meetings.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized the significance of well-maintained riversides in urban settings, noting that they play a crucial role in ecosystem protection, water quality improvement, and the creation of vibrant public spaces that boost community well-being and urban resilience. The project currently covers a span of 21.5 kilometers across five sub-cities and includes features such as walkways, bike lanes, public plazas, parking areas, children’s playgrounds, shops, and amphitheaters.

The initiative aims to combat river pollution, reduce flood vulnerability, enhance public infrastructure, increase green spaces, and generate employment opportunities within the city. Prime Minister Abiy highlighted that once completed, the project will not only preserve the environ
ment but also provide Addis Ababa with a lively and resilient riverside, ultimately enhancing the city’s economy and quality of life.
