Premier Abiy Visits Shabelley Resort in Somali Region

Addis Ababa: Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed conducted this morning a site visit to the Shabelley Resort in the Somali region, according to Office of the Prime Minister.

The Shabelley Resort, situated 29 kilometers from Jijiga, Somali regional capital, and sprawling across 385 hectares, is a key site among the Dine For Generations initiative, it was indicated.

According to the office, this project is critical component of the tourism pillar, aimed at transforming Jijiga City and its surrounding areas into a leading tourism destination.

Moreover, the initiative highlights Ethiopia’s dedication to promoting sustainable tourism and economic development, it learned.

Under the Dine for Generation initiative, launched in 2023, the government has been mobilizing funds mainly from public and private entities, developing tourism sites in different regions across the country.
