PRESS RELEASE BY THE OFFICE OF THE SPEAKER Speaker meets Ambassador of Finland on a courtesy visit

Speaker of the House of Representatives Anglu Farrugia received a courtesy visit by the new Ambassador of Finland Pia Rantala-Engberg, resident in Rome.

Mr Speaker noted that diplomatic relations between Malta and Finland were established more than 50 years ago, namely on 21st February 1969, which relations have been enhanced by high-level bilateral visits.

Speaker Farrugia and Ambassador Rantala-Engberg discussed issues of mutual interest, particularly the economy as well as cooperation between the two parliaments.

The Finnish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, migration, climate change, and gender representation also featured in the discussion.

Ms Rantala-Engberg was accompanied by Krista Napola, Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Finland, Rome.

Mr Ray Scicluna, Clerk of the House, was also present for the meeting.
