Public Service Principal Secretary, Amos Gathecha, has described the recent protests by the Gen Z as a wakeup call for the civil service that he said must now reflect on how they serve the public.
Mr Gathecha said the public has made a statement that they were not happy with the quality of service they were getting from the government and added that the civil service must now go back to giving service with integrity and honesty.
He said public servants cannot continue running government as if it was business as usual and added that every civil servant needs to rededicate themselves to provide quality service as expected.
Mr. Gathecha was speaking at the Kenya School of Government’s Embu campus where he presided over the graduation of two groups who had concluded their respective courses in social development and Strategic Leadership Development Programs at the school’s campuses.
The ceremony was also attended by the Chair of the School’s board of directors Justice (rtd) Charles Nyachae and the Director-Ge
neral of the School, Prof Nura Mohammed.
The PS said in an effort to root out fake officers from the service, the Ministry had submitted certificates presented by workers at the time of employment to various universities for verification and said that those found to have presented fake certificates would be smoked out and prosecuted.
Prof Mohammed said the KSG, which has been training civil servants for effective service delivery, was set to become the Africa School of Government by 2030.
He said the school has already signed MOUs with 27 African countries and added that it was also developing a youth empowerment centre at the KSG Matuga campus where young people will acquire skills in leadership and entrepreneurship.
