Suspected Alshabab IED Kills 10 KDF Soldiers

Ten military officers of Kenya Defence Forces based at Sangailu military base perished when a vehicle they were traveling in was blown up by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) suspected to have been planted by Al-Shabaab militants. The vehicle, a Landcruiser was blown up in the early morning incident today while travelling from Ruqa area to Sangailu at Gabaya laaga in Hulugha sub county, Garissa County. Confirming the incident, Ijara Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Willy Cheboi said that the security officers were on patrol when their vehicle ran over an IED resulting in the death of 10 KDF soldiers. Cheboi also confirmed that a military helicopter from Manda bay in Lamu had collected the remains of the officers from the site. There are three military bases in Hulugho Sub County at Sangailu, Ruqa and Hulugho.
