THE MINISTRY FOR FOREIGN AND EUROPEAN AFFAIRS AND TRADE Malta and the Maltese continue to be successful abroad

While he continued with his official visit to the United Arab Emirates, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade Ian Borg had several meetings and visits with businesses and people who want to continue collaborating with our country because they see potential in it.

In Dubai, Minister Ian Borg had the opportunity to meet the management and workers of the Brands for Less company. This company has been operating since 1996 with several stores in the Arabian Gulf and the Middle East. In 2019, this group of companies chose to open its first store in Malta, in Sliema. In a discussion with the leadership, Minister Borg went on to explain the benefits that Malta offers for businesses who choose our country for their investment.

He also visited works being carried out by the MedServ company in Abu Dhabi to which a few months ago, he had visited its facilities in our country. The foreign affairs minister noted the success that a company that started in our country is having overseas in a strong competitive market. He claimed that success stories like these continue to encourage the government to keep pushing local businesses overseas.

Towards the end of this official visit, Minister Borg had the opportunity to also address a conference of the Maltese agency, Tech.MT. Ian Borg spoke about how Malta has a strong economy that is recovering and growing at a better pace than the European average. He said that this is clearly emerging from the number of independent reports that are giving a strong vote of confidence in the capabilities that our country has. “In recent years, great advances in technology have been made so that Malta is now home to many international companies. But, even in terms of government technological advancements, Malta is at the top in terms of technological services in the European Union”, said the minister.

The minister also had a meeting with the Maltese community and the people who are making success in the Emirates and also attended the Malta Day event which was organised by the Maltese Embassy.
