During a visit to Gozo, President George Vella had the opportunity to listen closely to the recent experiences in the last year and a half of companies and residents in Gozo, particularly due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The first stop in Gozo was at the financial services company Michael Grech, during which he met with the Board of Directors, as well as the workers. During this visit, discussions were held on the challenges that have hit this industry in recent months, as well as on certain solutions proposed in collaboration with governmental and regulatory authorities.

The President also visited the company FXB in the Xewkija industrial area. In a few words during the visit, the President spoke about the importance of workers in each sector and, as he had done on other visits, he expressed his appreciation for the determination of the workers themselves to find concrete and even creative solutions for the struggles brought about by the pandemic.

During his visit to FXB, the President listened closely to the main challenges in this industry, including those of material procurement and delays in supplies.

For their part, the representatives of each entity expressed their gratitude for the solidarity and support shown in such times by the President towards the people of Malta and Gozo.

The last meeting consisted of a cordial meeting held with the Board Members of the Gozo Regional Development Authority. During this meeting, the consultation document on the Strategy for Gozo was presented to President Vella. The strategy proposed by the authority is based on three main pillars which focus on eight specific areas that are important for Gozo. In his comments, the President reiterated the importance of a broad and inclusive dialogue and consultation to ensure a better quality of life for all.
