THE OFFICE OF THE SPEAKER: Speaker Farrugia calls on Croatian President Milanovi?

Speaker of the House of Representatives Anglu Farrugia paid a courtesy call on the President of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanovic.

Speaker Farrugia said that Malta and Croatia have enjoyed a very close and cordial relationship bilaterally and in international organisations. He mentioned the importance of cooperation between the Maltese Parliament and the Croatian Sabor through the formation of a parliamentary friendship group.

Speaker Farrugia mentioned the twinning agreement signed last February between the St Paul’s Bay Local Council and the Municipality of Oroslavje, adding that last Thursday he received a courtesy visit from the Mayor of Oroslavje Viktor Šimunic.

Speaker Farrugia and President Milanovic discussed various issues, such as the election of the president and the speaker by the House of Representatives, the provision of water through Reverse Osmosis, and the provision of gas as well as the health system in Malta.

The present international situation, particularly the war in Ukraine, was also featured in the discussion.

Mr Milanovic was accompanied by Mr Orsat Miljenic, Head of the Office; Mr Jasen Mesic, Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia in the Republic of Malta; Mr Bartol Šimunic, Head of the Cabinet, and Mr Neven Pelicaric, Adviser for Foreign and European Policy.

Speaker Farrugia was accompanied by Mr Ray Scicluna, Clerk of the House; Miss Eleanor Scerri, Director International Relations, HoR; Mr Peter Paul Mallia, Director, HoR; and Mr Giovanni Miceli, Adviser International Relations, HoR.
