Speaker Anglu Farrugia, who is participating in the European Conference of Presidents of Parliament in Athens, also participated in a bilateral meeting with Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle.
The two dignitaries reiterated the existing strong and cordial relations between the two countries and respective parliaments. They also discussed issues of mutual interest, mainly the possible options to strengthen business relations with the UK within the framework of the future relationship between the EU and that country. The participation of the Maltese Parliament in the Commonwealth Parliamentary Assembly and the latter’s elevation from a charity organisation to an international organisation were also mentioned.
Speaker Farrugia was accompanied by Ambassador of the Republic of Malta to the Hellenic Republic, Joseph Cuschieri.
