Mau Summit – In a tragic incident at Mau Summit along the Nakuru-Kericho highway, five individuals, including a child, perished in a road accident involving a matatu and a trailer. The accident, which occurred on Saturday morning, also left ten others injured. These individuals were promptly transported to Molo and Londiani sub-county hospitals for medical treatment.
According to Kenya News Agency, the Kuresoi North sub-county police commander, the accident transpired when the driver of the 16-seater matatu attempted to overtake the trailer but lost control and collided with the vehicle’s rear. Gathenge confirmed that the matatu driver is among those who sustained serious injuries in the accident.
The deceased, four men and a child, were taken to the mortuary at Molo sub-county hospital, where they await postmortem and identification procedures. Meanwhile, the damaged matatu was moved to the Mau Summit police station.
In light of this incident, Gathenge has called on motorists to exercise greater vigilance and strictly adhere to traffic regulations to prevent similar accidents in the future.
