Two-month old found dead at Otjiwarongo

The lifeless body of two-month-old Monica Paulina Hambeleleni Kondjashili was found in a room at Telecom location in Otjiwarongo on Monday.

The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in its crime report availed on Tuesday indicated that the deceased body was found wrapped in a blanket at about 20h25.

It is alleged that the mother, a 25-year-old Namibian female, left her baby unattended as she went to a nearby Shebeen outlet.

“When she returned home and wanted to breastfeed the child, she realized the baby was dead,” it read.

The deceased was born on April 10.

The body was transported to the Otjiwarongo police mortuary for a post-mortem.

In an unrelated incident in Windhoek’s Eros suburb, it is alleged that unknown suspects damaged the electrical fence of a house and proceeded to break a window before gaining entry and stealing various items, on Sunday.

The valuable assets include one vehicle, two rifles, one pistol and ammunition, and two coffee machines, among others. The value of all the items is yet to be determined.

The stolen vehicle was recovered but no arrests have been made yet.

The owner of the house was out of the country and there was no one in the house at the time of the incident.

Police investigations in both matters continue.
