The West Pokot primary and secondary school scouts team has been flagged off to the regional scouts’ competition at Kitale school in Trans Nzoia county.
The team, flagged off by the County Secretary Jonathan Siwanyang, will engage in various scouts’ activities such as marching, understanding the fundamentals of scouting, setting up and maintaining a clean campsite, and participating in night competitions among other activities during the regional event in Trans Nzoia county.
Siwanyang commended the scouts for their high levels of discipline and wished them success in the competition over the weekend.
He also advised the scouts to uphold discipline both during and after the competition.
County Scouts Commissioner Jotham Wanyonyi mentioned that a total of nine secondary schools and six primary schools from West Pokot county will be taking part in the competition.
‘We had a county scouts’ competition last term, and based on that, 15 schools were chosen to compete at the regional level,’ explained Scouts com
missioner Wanyonyi.
Commissioner Wanyonyi stated that scouts from various counties, including Baringo, Turkana, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, and Nandi, will be participating in the upcoming competition.
He noted that this year’s scout competition in the region has seen an increase in the number of scouts from West Pokot participating, with a total of 293 scouts compared to last year’s 150 participants.
The Teacher Service Commission’s Assistant Director for ICT, Francis Mwarucha, commended the scouts for their discipline and expressed optimism about their performance in the regional competition.
County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for trade, cooperative development, industry, and Energy, Ms Clare Parklea, also commended the team for making West Pokot proud and expressed confidence in their ability to excel in the regional competition.

ive their best efforts in the competition, expressing confidence in their potential to emerge as winners.
The County Scouts’ Chairperson, Timothy Piro, urged the scouts to utilize their training skills and work smart in order to achieve victory, emphasizing the importance of maintaining discipline at the camp site.
